Swift Process Servers is happy to handle service of process for private parties. We serve a variety of different documents for pro se plaintiffs such as
Summons, Small Claims, Subpoenas, Evictions, Garnishments.
We however do not serve any documents relating to personal protection orders AKA PPO
It all depends on the individual situation. We’ve completed service as quickly as an hour after receiving the service documents as a rush assignment. But typically, if the address is correct and the individual doesn’t try to avoid service, service can be completed within 2-3 days. If the address isn’t correct and a new one needs to be located or if the person is actively avoiding service that can add to the timeline. We offer several different levels of service. There are a lot of myths regarding what “counts” as being served. For instance, some claim that the documentation must physically touch the intended recipient in order for that person to be officially “served.” This is not true. Even if the recipient refuses to touch or sign the documentation, they are still considered served in the eyes of the law as long as the process server has identified them and notified them that they have legal documents. We will only serve your documents in this fashion. If we are not able to identify the individual other measures will have to be taken to get them served, up to and including filing a motion with the court to obtain alternate means of service. We will not use shady and unethical methods to serve documents. We have a solid reputation in the Michigan Courts, and we strive to maintain that reputation.
All clients will receive live status via email on each and every case submitted. We can also setup a free online account on our website where you can log in to check live status on your case. We use state of the art software to expedite and manage all service of process assignments.
We do not file affidavits with the court unless you are a Michigan Law firm that uses our services in bulk, and we have a pre arranged agreement to do your filings. An affidavit of service, or a due diligence affidavit is supplied to the submitter of the assignment on completion. That part will need to file the affidavit themselves. We do not do this for you.
In most cases, unless pre arranged in writing, we make 4 attempts to serve the legal documents. We make these attempts on varying days, and varying times. We do not attempt papers on a routine basis on specified days and times. If you need a case served at a specific day at a specific time, please make arrangements in writing with our office in advance.
